How is the impending recession (is it here yet?) affecting your vacation plans?

Just curious how the impending recession is impending everyone's vacation plans?  We're doing the cruise this year.  We were fortunate enough to win the cruise, but there's still a lot of costs that aren't covered (formalwear, excursions, etc.).  I'm not sure if we could do this if we had won next year unless this turns out to be a very short downturn in the economy.  My DH, King Charming, owns his own business doing carpentry type subcontracting and let me tell you we can already feel it -- folks just aren't spending a lot of money doing stuff on their house.  I guess everyone's feeling the effects.  So it'll probably be late 2009 or maybe 2010 before we can plan another big blowout trip to the World or any other Disney destination (gotta admit I'm still hoping for a Disneyland Paris trip).  So yeah, we're feeling it.  But I still think making memories for the kids is worth the price so we're going to be putting some of our income towards that.

How about you?  How's the recession affecting your vacation plans?

Re: How is the impending recession (is it here yet?) affecting your vacation plans?

We are really hoping this is short lived. It has affected my DH's work. We are still planning our vacation and just returned from 5 days at Disneyland. If I had to plan our last trip over, I think I would have picked a more 'budget' hotel.  Southwest Home Educators (SHEA) is holding it's annual Not Back to School Days at Disneyland. The deals they are offering, since they were able to get a big group discount, prompted us to consider going with. Otherwise, it wasn't a planned trip. Lets all pray for a short, short, short recession.
